AAP MP Balbir Singh Seechewal. File photo: Sansad TV AAP MP Balbir Singh Seechewal on Sunday (April 26, 2026) claimed that Rajya Sabha member Vikramjit Singh Sahney, one of the seven AAP lawmakers who switched to the BJP on Friday (April 24, 2026), had approached him to join the “Azaad group” but he refused. A prominent environmentalist and AAP Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Mr. Seechewal also expressed anguish over the “surprise move” by the seven MPs to quit the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, saying they committed “bewafai” (being unfaithful) with AAP, which sent them to the Upper House to raise Punjab’s issues. On Friday (April 24, 2026), the AAP suffered a jolt when seven of its 10 Rajya Sabha MPs – Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Vikramjit Sahney and Swati Maliwal – quit and merged with the BJP, alleging that the party had strayed from its principles, values and core morals.
