Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Gidugu Rudra Raju on Sunday urged the State government not to allocate land belonging to the Simhachalam temple for the proposed Google Data Centre, stating that such a move would hurt the sentiments of Hindu devotees. He said earlier governments had refrained from using temple lands for such purposes, as it goes against the guidelines of the Endowments Department.

Speaking to the media here, Mr. Rudra Raju said the Congress would oppose the proposal to hand over 106 acres of land belonging to the Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swami temple. He suggested that the government instead acquire private land for the project, with the company bearing the cost. “It is not appropriate for the government to utilise temple lands,” he said.
