In a significant development following the death of dental student R.L. Nithin Raj, the Additional Sessions Court-IV in Thalassery denied anticipatory bail to first accused, Dr. M.K. Ram, while granting anticipatory bail to second accused, Dr. K.T. Sangeeta Nambiar in the case related to the alleged abetment of the student’s suicide. The order was passed by Additional District Judge J. Vimal in connection with the death of Nithin Raj, a student of Kannur Dental College at Anjarakandy. Dr. Ram, former Head of the Dental Anatomy, and Dr. Sangeeta Nambiar, Associate Professor in Oral Pathology, have been charged with offences including abetment of suicide and violations under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
