Hundreds of men, women, and children thronged the Integrated Bus Terminus at Panjapur and the Central Bus Stand on Sunday to return to Chennai and other cities and towns in the State after casting votes in the Legislative Assembly elections.

While a section of people, who had come to their native towns to cast vote, preferred to return to their work places on the same day, many chose to extend their stay until Sunday by taking advantage of the weekend. Many of them, after the voting trip, thronged Panjapur to catch buses on Sunday. Both the Tiruchi Railway Junction and the Panjapur bus stand were bustling with passengers since morning, with anxious people not only from Tiruchi and the neighbouring districts but also from the southern districts, pouring into the city to board the trains and buses. The crowd was mainly towards Chennai.
