The protest by contract sanitation workers at Government Hospital in Vijayawada intensified on Tuesday, with the strike entering its second day over pending wages and job security concerns. Workers staged a dharna near the Superintendent’s office, demanding immediate payment of three months’ salary arrears along with clearance of PF and ESI dues. Women workers also remained at the protest camp overnight, continuing the agitation. A rally was taken out from the dharna camp to the hospital administration office, with workers insisting that officials and the contractor provide a written assurance on clearing dues.
