Mahatma Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi-Vizianagaram city president Karrotu Satyam, Indian Red Cross Society chairman of Vizianagaram K.R.D. Prasada Rao on Friday asked parents and teachers to encourage students to read “The Story of My Experiments with Truth,“ an autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi to understand the importance of patience essential in achieving one’s goals.

On Mahatma Gandhi’s 78th death anniversary, members of the Mahatma Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi paid floral tributes to Gandhi’s statue in the premises of the Vizianagaram District Library.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Satyam said that Mahatma Gandhi, returned to India from South Africa and achieved Independence for the country in 32 years owing to his patience and a vision.” He shared that the association had organised essay writing competitions, elocution and others events for students of different schools ahead of the death anniversary.

Vizianagaram District Pensioners Association president Peddinti Apparao, Vizianagaram Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha former chairman Rongali Potanna, Mahatma Gandhi Smarka Nidhi honorary president Tirupati Naidu, vice presidents’ Edida Veerraju, Kolli Satyam and others attended the event.
