Timely intervention by Balapur police helped save two horses that were injured after being hit by an unknown four-wheeler on the Balapur–Venkatpur road on Saturday night. According to the police, the horses allegedly strayed onto the road when the speeding vehicle rammed into them, leaving both animals injured and lying on the carriageway. A local resident who noticed the horses alerted the Balapur police. Police personnel rushed to the spot and, with the assistance of an animal welfare organisation, rescued the injured horses and shifted them for medical treatment. Officials said the prompt response helped prevent further harm to the animals. The Balapur police said no case was registered as no complaint had been received from the owner of the horses.
