Counting of votes in the 12 Assembly constituencies in Palakkad will be held at three centres from 8 a.m. on May 4: Government Victoria College, Palakkad; NSS Engineering College, Akathethara; and Mount Seena Public School, Pathiripala. Electronic voting machines have been secured in strong rooms at those centres under tight guard. The strong rooms will be opened at 7.30 a.m. in the presence of candidates and their agents. Postal ballots will be taken up first, with initial trends expected by around 10 a.m. Counting will be overseen by Election Commission (EC) observers, assisted by micro-observers and assistant returning officers.
