Dinesh Mohammed Tabrez Alam Shariff, chairman of the Karnataka State Western Ghats Conservation Task Force Committee, has said that the committee will come up with an anthem for the Western Ghats as part of efforts to spread awareness among the public on the significance of the biodiversity hotspot. Mr. Shariff, in an interaction with the media in Shivamogga on Tuesday (April 21), stated that the committee had begun many activities with regard to the conservation of the ghats. Spreading awareness among the younger generation is among the priorities of the committee. “We will soon come up with an anthem for the Western Ghats, considered one among the world’s eight biodiversity hotspots. The anthem will include salient features and the significance of the ghats. Through the anthem, we will reach all those who use mobile phones,” he explained.
