Srikanth inspecting polling arrangements. | Photo Credit: Special arrangement Electronic voting machines were dispatched under tight security across Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam districts on the eve of polling, with officials stating that all arrangements are in place for a smooth and peaceful vote. In Mayiladuthurai district, voting will be held in the Sirkazhi (SC), Mayiladuthurai and Poompuhar Assembly constituencies. A total of 7,35,135 voters — comprising 3,62,939 men, 3,72,149 women and 47 third-gender voters — are eligible to exercise their franchise. As many as 951 polling stations have been set up across the three constituencies, with basic amenities arranged for voters. Officials have identified 54 polling stations as vulnerable and have deployed additional security personnel.
