Speaking to the media here on Friday (April 24, 2026), Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar said that special teams have been formed to intensify vehicle checks on highways, busy junctions, and known accident-prone stretches. Night patrols had been strengthened, with focus on curbing overspeeding and drunken driving, he added. “During the checks, the police will verify driving licences and vehicle documents, while also ensuring that riders wear helmets and motorists use seatbelts. Drunk driving tests will be stepped up at all key roadways, particularly during the late hours,” Mr. Satish Kumar said.
