The governing body members of Milma’s Ernakulam Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) on Saturday submitted a letter to the Milma chairman and managing director seeking an increase milk prices citing the rise in production costs. They also staged a sit-in protest in front of the Kerala Ccooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma) office here. The letter was submitted by ERCMPU chairman C.N. Valsalan Pillai and governing body members T.N. Sathyan, Tara Unnikrishnan, and K. K. Johnson. In August last year, ERCMPU had submitted a memorandum to Milma demanding a hike in milk prices. Following this, a three-member committee was formed to study the matter and it had recommended increase of up to ₹6 per litre of milk, the ERCMPU said in a statement. However, its implementation has been delayed.
