The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has reported that the Arabian Sea is experiencing significant thermal stress, raising concerns over coral reef health and deep‑sea fisheries, on Thursday.

According to an official release, approximately 22% of the region is under a “Watch” category, 9% under “Alert”, and 5% under “Warning”, with sea surface temperatures exceeding the 90th percentile of climatological norms. INCOIS Director T.M. Balakrishnan Nair said these adding that rising temperatures are a cause for concern for marine ecosystems.
