Four-tier security arrangements are in place at three counting centres in the city for round-the-clock monitoring and protection of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). These centres are under direct surveillance by uniformed personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP), Armed Reserve (AR), and the local police.

The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election was held on Thursday (April 23, 2026). The EVMs used in polling across 16 Assembly constituencies under the Greater Chennai City Police limits were securely transported under armed police escort and safely stored at three counting centres — Queen Mary’s College, Loyola College, and Anna University.
