The elephant calf that was rescued at O’ valley in Gudalur. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT An elephant calf that got stuck in a stream inside the Manjushree Plantation in O’Valley in The Nilgiris was rescued and reunited with its herd by the Forest Department on April 23, 2026 (Thursday). Officials said that locals had noticed the calf and its mother in a state of distress and informed the Forest Department. They rushed to the spot and chased away the herd before helping the calf out from the stream.
