Ramanathapuram farmers protest for fair compensation in highway expansion project

Farmers of the Southern Tamil Nadu Farmers Association staged a protest at L. Karungulam here on Sunday demanding fair compensation for the land acquired for the construction of highways on the Ramanathapuram – Paramakudi route.

M. Malaichamy, secretary of the association, said, though the project started in 2017 itself the compensation that should have been provided according to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 has not sanctioned to more than half of the farmers.
