Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai of the Karkardooma Courts also denied bail to accused Salim Malik and Athar Khan, who had sought release from jail seeking parity after the Supreme Court granted bail to five other accused in the same case earlier this month. “No doubt that the Hon’ble Supreme Court, vide order dated 05.01.2026 has granted bail to five co-accused persons, namely Mohd. Saleem Khan, Gulfisha Fatima, Shadab Ahmad, Shifa-Ur-Rehman and Meeran Haider, but in the same order, the Hon’ble Supreme Court has also dismissed the petitions of the other co-accused persons Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, being the key conspirators,” the court said. It added that in the past as well, this court has dismissed the earlier bail applications of the accused, given a finding that the allegations against the applicant are prima facie true. Of the 18 accused in the larger conspiracy case, seven undertrials are still in prison.
