Pottaloorani people boycotting elections on Thursday. | Photo Credit: N. RAJESH Less than 25 per cent of voters cast their votes in Pottaloorani village falling under Ottapidaram constituency and Kulathulvaipatti village under Vilathikulam constituency in, Thoothukudi district on Thursday, following a boycott call. The Pottaloorani village has 915 voters. Residents declared a boycott as their demand for closure of fish waste processing units operating near their village, remained unaddressed by the government. Incidentally, many villagers had also stayed off polling booth during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
