Kunnam, primarily an agrarian constituency, is one of the most underdeveloped constituencies in the region. The constituency that begins from Kunnam in the south extends up to Labbaikudikadu in the north and Sendurai in the northeast. Composition of the constituency includes parts of Kunnam and Alathur taluks in Perambalur district and Sendurai taluk in Ariyalur district. Most parts of the constituency have parched lands. The landscape is arid in nature. The economy is predominantly agriculture with key crops being cotton, maize, and cashew alongside significant lime quarrying and cement industries in Sendurai taluk.
