The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) launched the midday meal programme for day scholars at Sri Padmavathi Women’s Junior College, here on Wednesday.

TTD Trust Board Chairman B.R. Naidu inaugurated the scheme at the college’s annual day on Wednesday by serving the meal to the students, alongside fellow board members Panabaka Lakshmi, G. Bhanuprakash Reddy, Shanta Ram and Naresh Kumar. Later, he joined the students to have the food.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the TTD would provide all the required support to help students achieve their goal. “We are serving meals not only to the devotees visiting Tirumala-Tirupati everyday, but also to the patients and attendants visiting our hospitals, and also the students studying in our institutions. No one at the Lord’s abode should feel hungry,” Mr. Naidu said.

Appreciating the college for achieving a 97 per cent pass percentage in the last examination, he congratulated the students for showing women’s might. Mr. Naidu also stressed the importance of hard work and perseverance.

Principal C. Bhuvaneswari Devi presented the annual report, while the Devasthanam Educational Officer (DEO) Venkata Sunil and faculty members took part.
