A 21-year-old woman was killed after her scooter was hit by a bus on national highway 66 at Kuttippuram in Malappuram district of Kerala on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Rifa, a native of Nilambur. She was travelling towards the Kuttippuram railway station when the bus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims from Karnataka rammed her scooter. She was run over by the bus and died on the spot, while her friend riding pillion escaped with minor injuries. Rifa’s body was shifted to the Government Taluk Hospital, Kuttippuram. Highway construction works were under way in the area at the time of the accident, and traffic restrictions had been imposed.
