ASHOK The Rice Sangam 5 – Summit of Global Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals concluded with the celebration of World Tamil Unity Pongal in Keeladi in Sivaganga district on Sunday. Global Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals summit, titled “Sangam 5” organised by The Rise, began on January 8 at Alanganallur in the district with a jallikattu competition. Over the last three days, the The Rise – Sangam 5 summit held in Madurai witnessed the participation of more than 2,000 Tamil entrepreneurs from 55 countries across the world. Several special sessions were organised on various topics for the benefit of entrepreneurs. Achievers were honoured with awards in recognition of their accomplishments. On the final day of the summit, the Global Tamil Unity Pongal was celebrated in a grand manner at Keeladi. In this traditional festival, for the first time in the history of Keeladi, Tamils from 55 countries prepared Pongal using more than 250 Pongal pots. Thiruvadikkudil Swamigal Balaprajapathi Adigalar, President of the Tamil Nadu Jamaathul Ulama Sabha P.A. Kaja Muinudeen Bagavi, Archbishop of Madurai Antony Samy Savarimuthu, Bishop Lourdu Anandam of Sivaganga, and South Indian Church Madurai – Ramanathapuram Region Bishop Jayasingh Prince Prabhakaran joined as chief guests. During the Pongal celebrations, participants enthusiastically enjoyed playing traditional Tamil games.
