Woman dies of burn injuries after attempting to kill family in Guntur district, six injured

A woman who allegedly poured petrol and attempted to eliminate a family at Suddapalli village in Chebrolu mandal of Guntur district succumbed to burn injuries on Sunday.

The woman, identified as Aruna, a native of Tenali, reportedly had a dispute with Mallesh of Suddapalli. Elders had earlier convened a panchayat to resolve the issue.

Angered over the outcome, Aruna allegedly went to Suddapalli village on Saturday, poured petrol on Mallesh’s house and set it on fire with the intention of killing his family members. In the incident, Aruna and six neighbours who tried to douse the flames suffered burn injuries.

All the injured were shifted to the Guntur Government General Hospital, where Aruna died while undergoing treatment. Police said the case is under investigation.
