A 43-year-old driver, identified as Sk. Kalam, was burnt alive after his lorry hit a diesel tanker while attempting to avoid a shrimp van at Raavikampadu junction on the national highway in Kakinada district. The deceased is a native of Murshidabad in West Bengal State. The incident occurred when the lorry was heading from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam at around 2 a.m. on Thursday. Annavaram Sub-Inspector and Investigation Officer G. Sridhar has stated; “The lorry, driven by Mr. Kalam, hit the diesel tanker when Kalam attempted to avoid a shrimp-laden van that suddenly came on to the highway from the service road without any signal. Kalam body was found charred inside the lorry”. The police registered a case and the investigation is on.
