As power generation continues at near-maximum capacity at the Moolamattom power plant, the water level in the Idukki reservoir has plummeted to 36% of its total storage capacity.

On Friday, the water level at the reservoir was 2,338.64 ft (36.45%), compared to the 2,347.56 ft (43.80%) the same day last year. According to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) Dam Safety Wing officials, the reservoir level is currently 8.92 ft lower than that during the same period last year.
