Students from VIT Chennai, who showcased ‘Application of Computer Vision for Rail Infrastructure Inspection’, won the third place at Exceed 3.0 Campus Challenge, an inter-collegiate competition where participants showcase innovations and solutions pertaining to the railrod industry. They shared the place with with Cummins College of Engineering for Women, Pune, who proposed ‘Safe Siding of Trains’, and VIT Bhopal were adjudged the top winner. Organised by Wabtech Corporation, a global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions and value-added services for freight and transit rail industry, the event had participation of about 500 students from 70 institutions making up about 150 teams. The top three finalists won a total cash prize of Rs. 2.75 lakh.
