RAO To improve healthcare in Vijayawada West, MLA Yalamanchili Satyanarayana (Sujana) Chowdary on Sunday (January 25) launched the ‘Sujana Health on Wheels,’ which will provide quality medical services at people’s doorsteps. Former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated two state-of-the-art mobile medical vans, built at around ₹1.35 crore under the Sujana Foundation. One of the vans is equipped with a doctor’s consultation chamber, examination room, blood testing laboratory and a pharmacy offering free medicines. Another van functions as a mobile diagnostic unit with advanced facilities such as X-ray, ECG and 2D Echo, enabling early diagnosis and timely treatment. The mobile units will conduct regular medical camps in coordination with Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs). Patients requiring advanced care will be referred to Vijayawada Government General Hospital, Mangalagiri NRI Hospital and other reputable private hospitals. A dedicated ‘coordinator on duty’ has also been appointed to assist patients during hospital visits. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu lauded the welfare-oriented initiatives of the MLA and stressed the importance of preventive and participative healthcare. He urged citizens to make full use of the services and adopt healthy lifestyles. Several public representatives, NDA leaders and residents attended the programme. Mr. Sujana Chowdary said many poor and middle-class families tend to neglect health issues due to financial constraints. He said the success of a 45-day mega medical camp organised earlier inspired him to institutionalise healthcare access through this programme.
