Recent developments in transmitting photographs long distances over the telephone have resulted in the establishment of a regular commercial service between New York, Chicago and San Francisco, says a press report. On an average the time taken to transmit a photograph seven by five inches is seven and a half minutes.

An X-ray photograph taken, say, in Chicago may be “telephoded” to New York for medical diagnosis by a specialist on payment of a small sum. The value of the new service for the rapid circulation of finger-prints of “wanted” criminals has already been satisfactorily tested by the New York Police.
