The district administration has banned the use of drones in parts of the district in view of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit on April 19 for electioneering in connection with the Assembly elections. In a release, District Collector S. Kandasamy said Mr. Shah will arrive by helicopter and land at the helipad at the Thamarai Matriculation School grounds at Thamaraipalayam in Kodumudi taluk, and will travel to Sivagiri. The restriction will be in force within a 2-km radius of the helipad, and along the routes connecting the landing point and the event venues. The use of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles has been strictly prohibited in these areas during the visit. The administration has warned that legal action will be initiated against those violating the order, the release added.
