Shiv Sena UBT leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Friday (April 17, 2026) lamented the defeat of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha, even as her party voted against it in the lower house. Without naming Ms. Chaturvedi when asked about her comments, the Shiv Sena UBT said it “had busted a conspiracy by the BJP to introduce the Delimitation Bill in the garb of women’s reservation”.

“Sad day for India’s women who hoped to find themselves in the Parliament or Assembly,” Ms. Chaturvedi posted on X. Soon thereafter, she also said, “I have a stand on women’s reservation that I have consistently held, and I will continue to express it. Deal with it.” Along with it was a poster which read, “I will not water myself down to make me more digestible for you. You can choke respectfully.”
