The driver lost control of the vehicle near Mallanaghatta on National Highway 75 before it fell into the canal. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT A woman and her baby died when the car they were travelling in fell into a canal at Mallanaghatta, near Channarayapatna, in Hassan district on Wednesday (April 29). Four others suffered serious injuries. The deceased have been identified as Priyanka, 30, and her two-year-old son Vaibhav, residents of Devanahalli in Bengaluru. Her husband Manjunath and relatives Chandan, Dileep, and Devaraju suffered injuries. They were returning to their native place after a visit to Dharmasthala to attend a marriage.
