One of the girls is in class 8, and the other in class 4. | Photo Credit: Illustration by Satheesh Vellinezhi Officials rescued two minor girls and prevented their marriage in separate incidents in Koppal district of Karnataka, acting on credible information received through the Child Helpline (1098), authorities said on April 18. In the first case, under the jurisdiction of Kanakagiri police station, a class 8 student was being prepared for marriage by her parents. One being alerts, officials went to the village and made enquiries. They found that the girl is only 16 years old. The marriage was stopped, and the minor was rescued.
