Over 80,000 saplings have been planted along the corridor. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT If you are a resident of the Western suburbs and are headed out to Bengaluru and beyond, a 92-km-long stretch of the Chittoor – Thatchur National Highway has now been opened to vehicular traffic on a trial basis. The six-lane wide, access controlled road can be joined from Uthukottai on the SH 50 that connects Uthukottai and Tiruvallur. The other end of the road joins the Chennai – Bengaluru NH at Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. By August, the corridor will connect to the new Bengaluru – Chennai Expressway.
