‘Policeman’ opens fire in Dwarka, kills youth, injures friend

A 21-year-old man was killed and his friend injured after a man opened fire during an altercation in Jafarpur Kalan, Dwarka, the police said on Sunday, adding that an FIR has been registered.

The family of the victim, Pandav Kumar, has alleged that the accused, identified as Neeraj, is a police constable and that he hurled casteist slurs before opening fire. However, an officer said caste has been ruled out as a motive, and the probe so far has indicated that it was an “impulsive act”.
