Ragu In his final campaign for the 2026 Assembly election in Tamil Nadu, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C. Joseph Vijay, on Tuesday (April 21, 2026), claimed that after its defeat in the April 23 election, the DMK will “surrender” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and its “true colours” will be exposed. He appealed to children in every family to pester their parents and relatives to vote for TVK. Speaking at an election rally at Nandanam in Chennai, Mr. Vijay alleged the DMK had not shown any concern for people and had cheated them with false promises. In the last five years, the ruling DMK had increased property tax, water tax and placed a severe burden on the people. During this period, the State’s outstanding debt had increased enormously.
