Aimed at dismantling networks involved in synthetic drug trafficking, a coordinated operation by enforcement squads of the police, Excise, and Forest departments has been intensified in Kozhikode district. Acting on directions from senior officers, the special drive launched ahead of the Assembly elections will continue even after the counting process. “There was a significant drop in drug trafficking following the deployment of multiple flying squads as part of the election vigil. However, soon after the elections, several operators resumed illegal activities, assuming that the squads were no longer active,” said a senior police officer associated with the ongoing search operations in Kozhikode. He said that the joint action would continue for at least two more weeks in view of large-scale seizures and arrests reported from various locations.
