He said the district recorded as many as 555 road accidents in 2025, of which 190 were involving two-wheelers, resulting in 120 fatalities. “The absence of helmets is the single most significant factor behind avoidable deaths in two-wheeler accidents,” Mr. Satish Kumar said.

The SP said that the protection of the head ensured the security of the family and urging motorists to prioritise helmets and safety over speed.

The SP warned against drunk driving, using mobile phones while riding, and allowing minors to operate two-wheelers and cars. “Such negligence can destroy entire families. The police department would intensify awareness drives across the district before moving towards stricter enforcement of the helmet rule,” he said.

The 4km rally which passed through the main thoroughfares of Dharmavaram town saw the participation of District Transport Officer Karuna Sagar Reddy, Deputy SP Hemanth Kumar, and senior officials from the two departments.
