A smartphone with a sim card was seized from an inmate’s cell at Kannur Central Prison in Pallikkunnu during a search conducted by prison wardens on Tuesday (April 28, 2026). The device was reportedly recovered from the second block of the prison, where it had been concealed. Based on a complaint lodged by the jail superintendent, the Kannur Town police registered a case and began an investigation into how the phone reached the high security prison.
