Addressing the press here on Friday (April 17), environmental activists and office-bearers of various environmental organisations, including Ananth Hegde Ashisara, B.M. Kumaraswamy, Basavaraj Patil, and Giridhar Kulkarni, strongly opposed the attempts made by the State and Union governments to clear and implement projects in the Western Ghats despite knowing the adverse impact they would cause to the biodiversity hotspot.
