Residents hoisted black flags in front of their houses, shops, and other public places in the village. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Residents of Balekuppam village, that comes under Katpadi Assembly Constituency in Vellore district, boycotted elections on Thursday against relocation of the existing polling booth far from the residential colony of Scheduled Castes (SC) and lack of civic amenities in the area. Residents said that as a mark of the boycott, they hoisted black flags in front of their houses, shops, and other public places in the village. They said Balekuppam village panchayat consists of nine wards, including a settlement for Dalits, on the outskirts of the village.
