Members of the Beypore Fishing Harbour Action Committee, comprising boat operators and fishermen, will stage a dharna in front of the Fisheries department office at Beypore on April 22, seeking immediate intervention from the authorities to repair the damaged marine ambulance. The committee leaders said the unfit marine ambulance had recently affected the timely rescue of four fishermen who collapsed after inhaling toxic smoke from a boat’s engine room. According to them, there were no alternative arrangements in place to handle such critical situations.
