District Collector A.K. Kamal Kishore inaugurated the 4th edition of 10-day ‘Pothigai Book Fair’ on ICE Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School here on Friday.

More than 60 publishing houses have put-up their stall in the book fair to be held till February 8 and is likely to exceed last year’s sale of ₹1.25 crore.

“Selling books worth ₹1.25 crore in a district like Tenkasi is really appreciable as the people love reading books to enrich their knowledge. Since Tamil Nadu Government is keen on taking reading as a movement among the public, especially among the younger generation, we appeal to them to visit the book fair in large number and buy the books with atttactive discounts,” Mr. Kamal Kishore said.

Apart from selling books, the expo also has space for serving traditional foodstuff with local flavour, children’s play arena, cultural competitions for children etc.

Sub-Collector, Tenkasi, Vaishnavi Paul, Tenkasi MP Rani Srikumar and MLAs S. Palani Nadar, T. Sadan Thirumalaikumar and E. Rajan, District Revenue Officer S. Jayachandran participated.

Though the book fair inaugural function presided by Revenue Minister K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran was scheduled to be at 3 p.m. it was delayed by 2 hours in the last minute to trouble a lot the participants, especially the students.
