Udupi Taluk Brahmana Maha Sabha has organised an awareness workshop on the financial assistance and other facilities available to community members under Karnataka Brahmin Development Board on Monday, February 2 from 4 p.m. at Govinda Kalyana Mantapa in Udupi, said Taluk Maha Sabha President Srikanth Upadhyaya.

He told reporters at Udupi on Friday, that community members working in organised sectors, including cooks, priests, helpers, waiters, astrologers etc., are eligible to get labour card. Karnataka residents aged between 18 and 60 years can get the card, provided they are not income tax payers.

In case of death due to an accident, their nominees will get a compensation of Rs 1 lakh. Hospital expenses due to an accident will be reimbursed up to Rs 50,000. In case of untimely death, the beneficiary’s family will get a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 for funeral expenses.

Former Chairman of Permanent Backward Classes Commission K Jayaprakash Hegde, Brahmin Board Director P.M. Malesh, President of the Udupi District Mahila Congress Committee Jyothi Krishna Hebbar, President of Udupi Taluk Guarantee Implementation Committee Ramesh Kanchan and others will attend the workshop.
