Police Commissioner Shankha Brata Bagchi, along with State president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations (SSSSO) R. Lakshmana Rao, on Sunday (January 25, 2026) flagged off the ‘Sri Sathya Sai Run and Ride’ from the Kalimata temple on RK Beach in Visakhapatnam. The Commissioner said that the Sri Sathya Sai Run and Ride, organised as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, reflects the noble message of promoting unity in Visakhapatnam city. Commending the participants, he urged them to uphold the spirit of love and compassion shown by Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Dr. Shankha Brata Bagchi and R. Lakshmana Rao carried the Sri Sathya Sai Universal Torch of Peace along the Beach Road. The Torch of Peace, a global initiative of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council, which will travel across 140 countries spreading the message of unity, purity, and divinity, was launched by President Droupadi Murmu at Puttaparthi on November 22, 2025. Mr. Lakshmana Rao said that the purpose of the run was to spread the message of selfless service and service to humanity apart from promoting health. Students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar presented an impressive instrumental band performance, rendering “Saare Jahan Se Accha” and “Chak De India”. Earlier, Mr. Lakshmana Rao along with PRSN Naidu, District President, SSSSO and State Coordinators lit the traditional lamp. Senior singers from the SSSSO rendered multi-faith prayers for universal peace and harmony. Ms. Padmini Raju, renowned fitness coach and Zumba instructor, conducted an energetic warm-up session for participants. All registered participants were provided with exclusive T-Shirts, post-run refreshments, and medals. Former MLA of Ichchapuram Sairaju, Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Srikakulam, Vijaya, along with several State and District office bearers, Sevadal volunteers, Principal and staff of SSS Vidya Vihar participated in the event.
