A rubber tapping worker was killed in an elephant attack at Karuvarakundu in the district on Tuesday (April 28, 2026). Jamsheer Kaipully, 42, from Mullara, was attacked when he was tapping in a rubber plantation early morning. Jamsheer sustained serious injuries to his chest. Although he was rushed to a hospital at Perinthalmanna, he soon succumbed to his injuries.
