ASHOK Following the ‘Thirukalyanam’, the celestial wedding of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar, the devotees headed to the ‘Thirukalyana Virundhu’, the marriage feast organised by Pazhamudir Solai Thiruvarul Murugan Bhaktha Sabhai at Sethupathi Higher Secondary School in Madurai on Tuesday. The organisers said more than a lakh devotees were treated to the grand wedding feast. While the preparations for the grand feast were in full swing, they began serving food to the devotees from Monday morning itself, they said. Over 400 cooks were engaged in the process. Thousands of devotees were treated to Mappillai Alaippu on Monday evening. The devotees were served ‘ven pongal with sambar, vadai and rava kesari’. On Tuesday, the devotees were served dishes such as idli sambar, ven pongal, sambar rice, tomato rice, curd rice, vegetable pulao, khichdi, vadai and sweet pongal. People of all ages had come along with their family and friends.
