Palaniswami alleged that such incidents were on the rise. In a social media post, he expressed shock over the incident. It was a matter of shame that the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin continues to remain a mute spectator, even as such incidents were on the rise, Mr. Palaniswami charged. The AIADMK also criticised Health Minister Ma. Subramanian over his reported statement that he was not aware of the sexual assault of the woman worker in the college campus in Nandanam. “The irresponsible statement made by the Minister is condemnable.” Such recurring incidents only reiterated his earlier charge that there was no safety for women in the State under the DMK regime, Mr. Palaniswami said. AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran criticised the alleged “lackadaisical attitude” of the DMK government over the recent incidents in Chennai. Referring to the alleged sexual assault of a woman and her eventual murder along with her family in Chennai, Mr. Dhinakaran alleged that crime incidents against women were being reported every other day in Tamil Nadu and the CM was ignorant about such incidents. He further urged the CM to accord additional focus on measures concerning the safety of women in the State.
