Traffic police personnel conducting vehicle checks to enforce road safety rules in Puducherry. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT The Puducherry police have imposed a fine of over ₹30 lakh on motorists for various traffic offences during a drive to curb road safety violations in the Union Territory. Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic, D. Divya in a press release said a special weekly drive was held from April 20 to 26 to curb traffic violations. During the drive, challans were issued to 1,495 persons for not wearing helmet, 1,095 for using mobile phone while driving, 50 for rash and negligent driving and 47 for drunken driving under various traffic police station limits in Puducherry region.
