Fire and Rescue Services personal putting out the fire on the premises of a fireworks unit near Cumbum in Theni district on Saturday (April 25, 2026). | Photo Credit: File Photo The officials from the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) here observed plenty of violations in Sri Lakshmi Fireworks, Cumbum, and on Tuesday directed its closure until further orders from the Directorate, Chennai. Following an accident at the fireworks unit on Saturday, which claimed the lives of two workers and injured several others, the unit was closed. Cumbum North Police registered a case based on a complaint from the Uthamapuram VAO.
