ASHOK Scholarships were provided to five transgender students, who were studying in various colleges in Madurai, as part of the National Transgender Day celebrations held at the Transgender Resource Centre, here on Wednesday. Transgender Resource Centre director Priya Babu said April 15 marked an important day for the transgender community. On April 15, 2008, Transgender Welfare Board was established in Tamil Nadu. It was the country’s first Transgender Welfare Board.
